RIP Surly ECR

RIP ECR Today we mourn the loss of one of the greatest bikes ever created by engineers and welders and idea-people and weirdos and not weirdos and others. We are sad to say goodbye to this single track taming, bike-camping crusher, commuting counterpart and 29+ powerhouse. Here's a quick look at our latest and last ECR build; one we're familiar with. We used to build a bunch of Surly Pugsley's at Revolution Cycles (Madison) with this format in mind: budget friendly but bombproof square taper triple crank: swapping the three chainrings for one drop-stop ring. It worked really well and went together without having to fight spacing issues or pre loads and all the other problems that come with outboard bottom brackets . Simple and really effective.
